Hi, my daughter, 14, is a perfect example for the importance of protective headgear in soccer. She is a goalie in soccer and a catcher in softball. Would we send a catcher into a game without a helmet? No! In a game about a year ago my daughter was a fullback defending a high incoming ball, she went to put a head on it and was high-kicked in her temple. Her head never hit the ground, but received a concussion. She was not herself for a full week, schoolwork included. Now that I am aware of protective equipment available, I am much more comfortable with the up-coming soccer season. I am not an over-protective mother, my daughter is a competitive player. I just want to protect her brain.
